  • How Do I Join?
    At TLSS we implement an audition process when accepting new skaters to our competitive programming. We ask that you send an email to info@tlss.ca to request an audition or you can fill out our 'Request an Audition' form on our 'Join' page.
  • Is TLSS a member of Skate Canada?
    Yes, Toronto Lakeshore Skating School is a skating school that holds a sanction within Skate Canada. All figure skating activities held at TLSS are sanctioned by Skate Canada. As we are a member of Skate Canada, all members of TLSS are required to have a Skate Canada Membership. If you do not have one we will set one up for you and a membership charge will be added to your concurrent TLSS invoice.
  • What are your coaches qualifications?
    All TLSS coaches are Skate Canada certified coaches hailing from competitive figure skating backgrounds. We have numerous National certified coaches that work within our team as well as Canadian, US, and Italian national champions. Our coaches currently coach at the international level with several years of combined experience.
  • What age should my child start skating?
    The younger your child starts skating the better, though it is never too late to start skating. Those that start training at a younger age will be at an advantage as they have had more time to develop and acquire skills and basic fundamentals.
  • Do you offer beginner classes?
    TLSS offers a varying level of lessons from beginner to elite. Our team can arrange either private or group lessons for children new to figure skating. TLSS is a firm believer in starting skaters with strong fundamentals from the beginning of their skating journeys. Learn to skate with team TLSS.
  • What is the cost of lessons?
    All coaches have varying private and group lessons rates that will be provided prior to starting. Private lesson costs may range from $15/20min to $25/20min. Ice costs and private/group lesson costs are separate.
  • What on-ice and off-ice equipment is used?
    TLSS trains on an Olympic size ice pad at the Ford Performance Centre. On-ice we utilize DartFish analysis and mobile harness to further your skater's progress. We have ample off-ice space to be utilized for an abundance of off-ice classes, as well as ample warm-up areas and cool-down areas. We are fortunate to be able to utilize a stationary rotating platform to improve athlete's rotating position and build strength and coordination using this state-of-the art equipment.
  • How long has your team been coaching together?
    Our directors have been coaching together since 2016. Collectively they have over 40+ years of coaching experience. Our directors hail from strong competitive backgrounds in figure skating and are committed to excellence in each of their athletes.
  • How do I pay?
    On-Ice and off-ice fees will be paid on a monthly basis depending on the package purchased. Our administrative staff can set up a payment plan that best fits your family's needs. Coaching costs are a separate fee outlined in our coaching policy. Monthly invoices will be sent out for the lessons attended. Coaching fees must be paid by the 30th of each month or lessons will be stopped. Payment is accepted via e-transfer, paypal, and all major credit cards.
  • Do I need to hire a private coach?
    It is mandatory that all skaters participating in our figure skating program receive lessons from the TLSS coaching team.
  • How frequently are training sessions held?
    During the school year training is offered before school, during school hours and after school. Training is offered Monday - Saturday. During the summer months we offer a summer training program Monday - Friday with additional training on Saturdays.
  • Do you provide individual training plans to fit my skater's needs?
    Our coaching team provides a daily training plan to athletes at all levels. This training plan is tailored and detailed according to each individual athlete to continue to push progress and promote success.
  • Is off-ice training offered?
    Off-ice programming is offered Monday - Saturday. We offer off-ice jump classes, ballet, fitness and conditioning, yoga, stretch, as well as other miscellaneous off-ice classes.
  • Are choreography services offered?
    All TLSS athletes are given programs choreographed by a catalogue of international, world, and Olympic level choreographers.
  • Does your team specialize in a specific discipline?
    We have both international level singles coaches and pairs coaches that are on our team.
  • Does TLSS have success at the provincial, national, and international level?
    In 2024 TLSS had national medalists in every level of competitive figure skating. We are frequently at the top of all provincial championships and have had skaters represent Canada internationally at every level offered by the International Skating Union.
  • Does the TLSS team attend competions?
    TLSS attends multiple competitions at the regional, provincial, national, and international level. Skater's families will be informed what events to register in accordance with their skater's level.
